Canada :Canara World Foundation, a socio-cultural organization celebrated its 10th anniversary with Wilfy Nite here on saturday 26th April, at the Port Credit Secondary School Auditorium, Mississauga, Canada. The event began with the national anthem of India & Canada.
The famous Sangeet Kutum Rebimbus family: Meena, Veena, Arthur, Arvin, Anna, Vishwas & Charleen sung famous numbers of Konkani legendary singer late Wilfy which mesmerized the audience.
Flavian Pinto & Nancy Mendes welcomed the audience. ‘Konkan Maina’ Meena rebimbus was the main attraction of the event & numbers were sung by Meena conquered the gathering throughout the show.
Renowned singers Arthur, Veena, Vishwas & Charleen accompanied by talented local singers Gerry, Lucy D’Mello, Manohar Pais, Wilson D’Souza, Linton Pinto, Anita Prabhu, Sonia Monteiro, Lara Rebello, Aditi Pinto, Lawrentina, Clementina D’Souza and Charlotte D’Souza adored the stage and put their voice for melodious Konkani songs. A Young talented Konkani singer Arvin Pais enthralled the audience with his solo performance and 4C team supported with dance.
Francis Fernandes Casia, Manohar Pais, Rony Monteiro, Raymond Monteiro, Santosh D’Souza, Carol Lobo, Flavian Pinto, Max and Nancy Mendes and Ewan D’Souza entertained the audience with their rib tickling comedy.
The Best Academic performers ; in junior category Clementina D’Souza and Anushka Castelino in the senior category were presented with mementos.
The Canara Champion Award which was presented to Oliver Sequeira by Gilbert D’Souza for his musical contribution to the community.
The guest artistes were bestowed with awards for their contribution to Canara World Foundation Decennial Celebration.
Meanwhile Canara World Foundation felicitated Meena Rebimbus for her great contribution in Konkani with shawl and Maan Patr. “The Canara Kala Sanketh” the highest and prestigious Award presented by Canara World Foundation to the contributors of Konkani music, literary, arts and culture was presented to Meena Rebimbus by Flavian Pinto.
The event was compered by Donald Alva. Nancy Mendes proposed vote of thanks.
