Dubai : Dr B.R. Shetty, Managing Director and CEO of UAE Exchange and Founder and CEO of NMC Health Care has found a place in the list of top 100 Indian business leaders in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
Shetty who hails from coastal Karnataka, is also the owner of the100th floor of Bhurj Khaleefa, the world’s tallest building. His office is also located in the 141st floor of the building.
On top of the list is Yusuffali M.A, head of the Abu Dhabi-headquartered Emke Group that owns the Lulu retail conglomerate,tops the list with a net worth of 4.5 billion dollars followed by
Micky Jagtiani of the Landmark retail group with a net worth of 4.5 billion dollars.
B.R. Shetty of the UAE Exchange stands fifth with a net worth of 1.9 billion dollars followed by P.N.C. Menon, Founder and Chairman of Sobha Group.
BR Shetty who hails from Kaup near Udupi district, after securing a degree in clinical pharmacy had moved to Abu Dhabi in 1972 and set up the New Medical Centre which soon rose to greater heights.
He has won several awards including Padmashree, Karnataka Rajyotsava Award and Honorary Doctorate of Mangalore University.
