Dubai : Spectacular Tulu Parba- 2013 enthralls gathering

Dubai : The Tulu Parba 2013 organised by the Tulu Koota Dubai  at Al Nasr Leisuer land, Ice rink here on June 21 was a splendid display of Tuluva ethos, culture and tradition. The venue of the event was tastefully decorated and presented a Tulunadu village in the true sense. There was the traditional Goodangadi or petty shop, flower stall, mock cock fighting and much more for the audience and the distinguished guests.

Dr M Mohan Alva, Chairman of Alva’s Education Foundation,  Umanath Kotian, former president of Tulu Sahitya Academy, Dr Putturaya, noted orator, Devadas Kapikad, noted Tulu theatrical personality, Naveen D Padil, Bhojraj Vamanjoor, Tulu actors, CR Shetty, President of Tulu Koota, UAE and other guests, inaugurated the much awaited event by lighting the traditional lamp.

M Singh, Indian Ambassador in Dubai, who was the chief guest, felicitated the dignitaries. In his address, Singh said he had great pleasure in attending the event and witnessing the wonderful culture of Tulunad.

Umanath Kotian, former Tulu Academy chief, in his address, stressed the need to enlighten the present generation on the significance of their culture and traditions.

Devadas Kapikad, Tulu theatre personality, who also spoke wished all success for the Tulu Koota programmes even in the future.

In his address, Dr Mohan Alva said Tulu language can prosper only when it used as a means of communication. He said the Tulunadu culture like Bhootharadhane too has been able to popularize this language as it is in Tulu that Bhootharadhane is performed.

Dr Putturaya, eminent orator, also spoke on the occasion.

The sponsors of the event were felicitated by presenting mementoes. Praveen Shetty, Director of Fortune Group of Hotels, Harish Sheregar, Chief of Acme Building Materials, Shekhar Shetty, owner of Arab Udupi Hotels,  Sarvottam Shetty, President of Abu Dhabi Karnataka Sangha, Girish Shetty, President of Karnataka Sangha, Dubai, Satish Poojari, President of Karnataka Sangha, Sharjah, Rajkumar, President of Karnataka Sangha, Bahrain and several others were present.

The cultural programmes included a Tulu and Kannada musical concert by Harish Sheregar and group, folk dance by Jasmitha Vivek  and group, comedy skits by  Devadas Kapikad, Naveen D Padil and Bhojraj Vamanjoor entertained the audience.

Karnur Mohan Rai, Arun and Jeshta compered the programme. The mega event was graced by over 3500 Tuluvas in Dubai and around.
