While India is set to celebrate the 69th Independence day on Saturday, 15 August, Indians in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) are preparing to welcome Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who will be visiting the country on Sunday.

With an Indian PM visiting the UAE after over three decades, there have been reports claiming that the tallest artificial structure in the world, Burj Khalifa, will be lit up in Indian tricolours for two days on 16 and 17 August.

“Breaking news Burj Khalifa to be lit in colour of Indian flag tiranga for two days during Indian prime minister Namo visit Dubai 16 and 17 August feeling proud (sic),” a social media user posted on Facebook.

However, the reports seem to be fake as a senior reporter at Khaleej Times has stated that the news that is going viral on social media is fake.

“To be clear: TV reports in #India saying the #BurjKhalifa will light up in Indian colours for Modi’s visit are absolutely FALSE,” Bernie Debusmann posted on the micro-blogging site, Twitter, on Friday afternoon.

A video of Burj Khalifa is also doing the rounds on social media that shows there are no preparations being taken to light up the tallest building in tricolour.
