Goan Welfare Association to organise World Goa Day on Nov 6

Qatar: Goan Welfare Association, Qatar is all set to celebrate World Goa Day 2015 on Friday, November 6, 2015 at Mercure Grand Hotel, near the swimming pool area 12.30 pm onwards.
It will be a day of enjoying Goan food, Goan traditional fashion, music, singing, dancing, lot of fun and games. “Let’s be proud Goans and celebrate our culture, language, traditions, music and cuisine”, said Simon D’Silva, president of GWA in a release.

Fr. Anand Castelino will be the chief guest of the event which is intended as a day for Goans worldwide to focus, take pride and celebrate their culture, language, traditions, music, cuisine, and more wherever they are on the planet earth.

A live band along Doha’s favourite Joyce and Aggie will be performing scintillating music throughout the event with audiences clamouring for more. Live numbers from the band and retros & pop, goan melodies, ballroom by DJ Glorio will be some of the highlights of the evening.

A charming young handsome ace compere Mahesh Prabhu has committed to keep the entire audience on their toes and bring out the best from every participant of the event.

World Goa Day (WGD) was introduced to commemorate the anniversary of the inclusion of Konkani in the 8th Schedule of the Indian Constitution by the Indian Parliament on the 20th of August 1992, when Konkani was recognised as one of the official languages of India. Konkani is the mother tongue of Goans.

Entry for adults has been priced at Qrs. 100 and Children at Qrs. 50 per head.

Today World Goa Day is celebrated by many organisations and is growing, across the globe including Goa, Canada (Toronto, Vancouver, Quebec, Montreal, and Calgary), Australia (Melbourne, Brisbane, New South Wales, Perth, and Adelaide), New Zealand, United States (New York, LA, New Jersey, Houston, California), Kenya, Tanzania, Mozambique, Zanzibar, the Middle East, U.K, Portugal, Spain, Pakistan and Germany.
