Indian Cultural Centre organized sports events for Indian expatriates

Doha-Qatar, Feb 13: Indian Cultural Centre (ICC) has organised sports events at Al-Arabi sports centre on the mark of Qatar National Sports Day. ICC President Tarun Kumar Basu has inaugurated the sports events and welcomed the gathered sporty minds.

More than five hundred peoples from different communities like Karnataka Sangha Qatar (KSQ), Tulu Koota Qatar, ATS, Samanvayam, Milleanium Kids, Vepex Qatar, Punjub team and Qatar Tamil Titans were showed their talents and skills in different games and sports events conducted by ICC.

Indian origin games like Kabbadi and Kho-Kho was the main attraction of the event. Team games like Tug of War, Cricket, Ball Throw, and other individual sports were conducted for different age group category.

The Indian ambassador Sanjeev Arora tossed the coin declaring the final cricket match between Institutes of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) and Al-Zaman Team.

The valedictory ceremony was presided over by the Indian ambassador and ICC President. Ambassador thanked the H.E. of Qatar in a special way, for celebrating National Sports Day on every February 2, Tuesday and also wished the flocked communities that sports events shall bring peace and healthy life style in everyone. Meantime Ambassador has felicitated Milan Arun for her great contributions for Indian community.

KSQ President Deepak Shetty and Bunts Sangha Qatar President Ravi Shetty were present on the occasion.

After the thrilling finals, the prize distribution ceremony was conducted. In the Kabbadi event Vepex Qatar won Champion Trophy and QTT won runner up Trophy. In Kho-Kho match ATS team won Championship trohy and KSQ team becomes the runner up.

In the Cricket Al-Zaman Team has won winner trophy after defeating ICAI team at the final.

In a female category, Tug of war event, Millennium Kids team won first prize and Samanvayam Team won runner up. Meanwhile in a male category, TJSV won first prize and Samanvayam Team won runner up prize.

The organisers thanked the team of volunteers in a special way for the hard work put in for the success of the Sports day celebration.

The program was compared by ICC sports secretary Jatinder Bajaj, Milan Arun, and coordinated from Sandesh, Mohan Kudla, Ramachandra Shetty, Sridhar Naik, Antony, and Sushma Sandesh.
Tecton Engineering and Doha Bank were the main sponsors of the whole events.
