Dubai:Konkan Bells, an association of parishioners of Beltangady deanery who are working in Dubai celebrated feast of Nativity of Mary with pomp and gaiety at Bangalore Empire Hotel, Karama, here on Friday September 13.
The little children honored Infant Mary by showering flowers on the occasion. Fr Simon D’Souza, parish priest of St Francis parish, Indabettu, Beltangady led the religious celebration and blessed the new paddy-sheaves sourced from Mangalore on the occasion.
Fr Simon speaking during the stage programme said that he was happy to see the parishioners of different parishes under Beltangady deanery who are working in Dubai are celebrating the feast of Infant Mary to promote brotherhood in their midst. He also commended the pooling of resources by Konkan Bells in order to help the less fortunate brethrens in back home to pursue studies of economically-weaker brethrens. He also assured his prayers in this regard.
Konkan Bells promoter Walter Pereira urged the members to join in making the organization a role model to the society by social welfare and philanthropic activities.
Konkan Bells sponsor Leticia Pereira, Reliable Group of Companies director James Mendonca, Konkan Bells president Remigious D’Souza were present at the dais.
Fr Simon was felicitated by draping the shawl and presented with memento on the occasion.
Variety cultural shows, dance, music, mimicry were staged as part of entertainment programme.
A PowerPoint presentation of Konkomen service since its inception was screened on the occasion.
A draw of lucky-dip to float education fund was held and prizes were distributed to the winners.
Remigious D’Souza welcomed the gathering. Konkan Bells secretary Rohan proposed vote of thanks. Godwin Rodrigues and Preema Pereira compered the programme.
