Mangalore Cultural Association Qatar celebrates its 5th Anniversary

Qatar :Mangalore Cultural Association (Affiliated to the Indian Cultural Centre, under the aegis of Embassy of India, Doha Qatar) on completing of glorious and successful 5 years,organized an event at Regency Halls, where in a thrilling social drama Aami Nathlya Vellar was played in front of houseful Konkani speaking community of Doha Qatar.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Mr. Ronald Colaco and family,Ramco Trading and Contracting Company WLL were the main sponsors of the programme.

Programme began with the MCA Anthem.A beautiful dance was presented by Mangalorean youngsters in Qatar,namely Sana Britto, Rupal Aroza, Melanie Crasto,elroy Crasto, Ryon Ranger and Shawn D’Souza. Choreography was done by Sana Britto.

As a part of the grand celebration of 5th Aniiversary of MCA, Konkani play Aami Nathlya Vellar was presented by Daiji Rang Mandir artistes. This play was written originally in Marathi by Madhusudan Kalekar and translated to Kannada language by Ramanand Choorya. This play is based on a true life story of a navy commanders family, which became a big sensational case in Maharashtra State in the year 1959.The play was directed by Dayan Dsouza, who also played the role of retired school teacher, one of the central characters of the play.

Back stage co-ordinator was Sandeep Dsouza,Prasad Dubai Sound system,Stage Setting and arrangements were by Chidananda Dubai.

During the interval,a stage programme was organized. Fr.Anand Castelino, Priest of Qatar Church and convenor of Konkani Speaking community was the chief guest. Presient of MCA Mr. Arthur Pais, MCA Advisory committee members Mr.gerald Pinto,Felix F Lobo, Joachim DSouza, Wilfred Fernandes were also present on the dais. 

President of MCA gave brief note about the activities of MCA during the last one year and also presented some of the future activites like voice workshop November 22, 2013 and thanked all the members, management council members and all mangaloreans in Qatar who had shown support to all activities of Mangalore Cultural Association.

A colorful Souvenir was released  on the occasion of  5th anniversary of MCA.Souvenir committee members were Benjamin Rebeiro, Shalini Mendonca, Veena Rebimbus Pais, Jason Quadros and Arthur Pais.

During the interval of the play First MCA Kala Puraskar was awarded to  honor deserving Mangalorean Konkani artists and activists who have contributed to the Konkani, stage,Art and Culture in various forms and ways. Three legendary Konkani stage artistes, Benedict Miranda populary known as Benna Ruzai, Charles Sequeira – Charlie Sequer, both from Mangalore and Mable Fernandes Nee Baretto currently residing in Doha Qatar were the awardees of First MCA Kala Puraskar. The Puruskar included Rs 1 lac, memento, citation letter and public honor.

Citation Letter of Benedict Miranda (Benna Ruzai) was read by Hema Fernandes, Citation letter of Mr Charles Sequeira who was absent because of ill health was read by Wilma Dsouza  and Benjamin Rebeiro  read the Citation letter of Mable Fernandes.
