Abu Dhabi: Mangalore Cup 2016, an overarm cricket tournament, will by held by Manglorean Cricket Club (MCC) at Sheikh Zayed Cricket Ground on March 4.
The fourth season of the tournament, which allows only Indian nationals to play will have matches of 6 overs each and hard tennis MRI ball will be used by the players.
Addressing mediapersons, MCC President Lathif KH said that he is expecting more teams and crowd this year. “We have received immense support from cricket lovers and Kannidigas around UAE for the past three seasons” he said.
The event will see many dignitaries participating in the opening and prize distribution ceremonies. Lucky draw prizes will be given to the crowd. A book on the MCC milestones will be also released.
Cash prize of AED 8,000 with a trophy for the winners and AED 5000 also with a trophy for runner-ups has been announced.
Cash prizes and trophies will be given in the following categories as well: Man of the series, Best batsman, Best bowler, Best keeper, Best fielder, Best all-rounder and Best catcher. Man of the match in every league match and final match.
