Salmia / Kuwait: Kuwait India Fraternity Forum organized a felicitation programme of distinguished guests here on Friday April 26.
Popular Front of India chairman K M Sharif was the chief guest of the occasion.
Addressing the gathering, Sharif said that one should be proud of being an Indian Muslim because every citizen has equal rights in a democratic country. The community has history of ruling the country for over 8 centuries. The vested interests since centuries tried to disregard the community alleging the latter are responsible for partition of greater India. It has no political party to represent the community. The Muslim representatives in the mainstream parties are helpless to raise voice in favour of community, because it would amounts to anti-party act. Despite of many opportunities to address the grievances of communities, none have utilized them that show the failure, said Sharif.
Sharif expressed deep concern over 50 percent community women in the country are illiterate that has to be changed because women form half of Muslim population that needs a capable political party to bring justice to the community in every sphere.
If the community truly follows the preaching of Prophet Mohammed, and actively involves in politics, disregarding any differences, the community can become economically empowered and united. If the community becomes united, it can change the civilization of this era. The political empowerment can bring about prosperity and peace. The community should be involved in politics on daily basis, rather than mere vote during assembly and general elections. The democratic right of casting the votes has to be fulfilled diligiently, urged Sharif.
