Authorities Take Possession of Illegally Built Shops on Public Hospital Land
Davanagere: In Harihar, officials have seized 11 commercial shops that were built on public hospital land at Dodbibidi, following a directive from the Bengaluru Land Grab Prohibition Special Court.
On Tuesday, a team of officials locked up the shops and handed over the property to the Health Department. The shops were situated next to Garadimane in Dodda Beedhi.
The Health Department had filed a case regarding the illegal construction of the commercial complex on its land, which was transferred to the Bengaluru Land Grabbing Prohibition Special Court in 2021. The court’s order, dated July 18, 2024, mandated the acquisition of the 2.5 acres of encroached land.
Traders had been notified beforehand and removed their goods from the premises. The operation was overseen by officials including Tehsildar Gurubasavaraj, Public Hospital Chief Medical Officer Dr. L. Hanumanayka, and Municipal Commissioner Subrahmanya Shresthi.
