Bengaluru: The J.P. Nagar Police have arrested Syed Farvez (34), a notorious rowdy from SJ Palya, for stealing a Mangalya Sara from a woman who was asleep near a window. The police recovered stolen items worth ₹9 lakhs, including a two-wheeler, a 109-gram gold chain, and other valuables.
Commissioner of Police B. Dayananda’s Statement
Commissioner of Police B. Dayananda stated that Farvez’s arrest led to the resolution of five theft cases registered at the J.P. Nagar police station. Farvez had a pattern of targeting homes with open windows. In this incident, he attempted to snatch the Mangalya Sara from a woman sleeping by the window. Despite her struggle to hold on, he managed to steal half of the ornament.
Accused’s Criminal History
Syed Farvez is a repeat offender with a record of theft, robbery, and attempted murder across various police stations in the city. He is a known rowdy sheeter at the SJ Palya police station, underscoring his criminal reputation.
