San Francisco : According to reports, Meta-owned WhatsApp is developing a new feature that will let you look up users on Android by username.
Users will be able to look up other users by username using the search bar, as seen in the screenshot WABetaInfo shared.
With this new update, sharing personal phone numbers will no longer be necessary, improving privacy and the connecting process.
According to the report, users have complete control over this feature, as they can change or remove their username at any time. Configuring a username is completely optional.
“Connecting with others won’t require users to give out their phone numbers. According to the report, this is especially advantageous for people who want to keep some degree of anonymity or control over their personal data.
The feature is currently being developed and will be made available in a later app update.
Millions of WhatsApp users now have access to a secret code feature, which is an extra layer of security for private conversations on the messaging app.
By using a secret code, users can add an extra layer of privacy to their locked chats by creating a password that is distinct from the one they use to unlock their phones.
“Rolling out secret code to Chat Lock on WhatsApp so you can protect your chats with a unique password. Now you can set your locked chats to only appear when you type the secret code in the search bar, so no one can unintentionally discover your most private conversations,” Meta Founder and CEO, Mark Zuckerberg, said on his WhatsApp Channel.
