Shivamogga: KPCC spokesperson Kimmene Ratnakar said that Congress will hold a protest in front of the DC office on Tuesday, March 9, against fake cases filed during the Kabaddi tournament in Bhadravathi, against the MLA, supporters, and his family members.

Addressing the issue in a press conference he said, “with the support of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), the police department has filed fake cases against Congress activists in Bhadravati.” He stated that five people including woman and congress activists were arrested yesterday night and were brutally assaulted.

After Appaji Gowda’s death, the BJP is about to suppress Congress. In Bhadravati, the BJP has no base, no candidate. Therefore, they are gearing up for the next election on the basis of communalism, he expressed.

He said the police department’s atrocities should be stopped at around 2.00 pm today.

“I have contacted S.P and I G. I spoke to them about not appointing 2000 police in front of the MLA’s house. The two officers had agreed. But yesterday, fake cases were registered against Congress activists. In Bhadravathi, not even a single Gram Panchayat member is on the side of the BJP. The BJP has lost its deposit in the 15th assembly elections”, he said.

Answering the question asked by journalists if whether there was something wrong with saying Jai Shri Ram in the tournament, he said that since It is a sports tournament, religion should not be brought here. “fights and uproars are normal during the Kabaddi tournaments but such atrocities are not acceptable here,” he said.
