Shivamogga: Minister of Rural Development and Panchayat Raj of Karnataka, K. S. Eshwarappa threw sarcasm at congress leaders who participated in the public protest and asked would it have been acceptable if instead of slogan ‘Jia sri Ram’, slogans such as ‘Pakistan zindabad’ were used. He was speaking to the media persons during his visit to a layout near PMDT colony here. He said that before the congress leaders could hold a public protest, they could have asked the other team members what the runner up team members really said.

“I have been informed that the runner up team members raised slogans ‘Bharat Matha ki Jai’ and also ‘Jai Sri Ram’”, he said. He expressed his surprise on why MLA Sangameshwar, his son and followers had an objection to this. What part of the slogan really hurt them, he wondered and added if slogan such as ‘Allahu Akbar and ‘Pakistan zindabad’ would have been acceptable.

The Congress leader should have taken the Bhadravati incident sportively and need not have resorted to holding such a massive protest, he commented.

“Bhadravati citizens are observing these happenings and surely in coming days, this will be a death knell to congress. Sloganeering by winning team is a common practice and the MLA should have taken it as just that and need not have made it a big issue,” he said.
