During a press conference on Sunday, Shimoga District Superintendent of Police G.K. Mithun Kumar announced the successful seizure of 15 kg of ganja as part of a special operation. The confiscated 15 kg has an estimated value of approximately ₹5.56 lakh.
The operation was conducted by a team led by Inspectors and Sub-Inspectors under the guidance and supervision of respective Superintendents of Police from different sub-divisions. Additional Superintendent of Police-1 Anil Kumar Bhoomareddy and Additional Superintendent of Police-2 Kariappa A.G explained the details at the press conference.
The public was encouraged to share any information about the sale, consumption, or cultivation of narcotic marijuana by contacting their nearest police station or using the emergency helpline 112. Assuring confidentiality for informants, legal action will be taken against them.
The announcement was made in the presence of Additional Superintendent Anil Kumar Bhoomareddy and other officials involved in this successful operation against illicit drug trade within Shimoga district, during the press briefing.”
