The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has imposed a fine of ₹20 lakh on the Karnataka State Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation (KSIIDC) for failing to meet required aerodrome standards at Shivamogga Airport. This penalty follows an inspection by the DGCA in July, which uncovered various lapses in airport maintenance that could jeopardize flight operations.
In August, the DGCA issued a notice to KSIIDC regarding the inspection findings. However, the corporation’s response was deemed unsatisfactory, prompting the regulator to take disciplinary action due to ongoing safety concerns and non-compliance with aviation regulations.
