Mysore/Mysuru: Farmer leaders from across the nation and state are set to gather in Shivamogga for a national-level convention scheduled for tomorrow (June 24). The convention aims to bolster the farmers’ movement in South India, modeled on the lines of the Farmers Chalo movement in New Delhi.

President of Federation of State Farmer Organisations, Kurubur Shanthakumar, announced the event at Jaladarshini Guest House in Mysuru. The agenda includes discussions on implementing laws related to Minimum Support Price (MSP) for agricultural produce, advocating for farm loan waivers, and revising norms for crop insurance and compensation under the National Disaster Response Fund (NDRF) for crop losses due to various calamities.

Shanthakumar also stated plans to lead a delegation of farmer leaders to meet Andhra Pradesh CM N. Chandrababu Naidu and Bihar CM Nitish Kumar to seek their support for strengthening the farmers’ movement.
