A tragic incident unfolded on Thursday in Baise village, Hosanagar taluk of Shivamogga district, where a woman named Shashikala, aged 43, was washed away after falling from a footbridge made of areca trees. Heavy rains have been lashing many parts of Hosanagar, Sagar, and Tirthahalli taluks, causing streams to swell.
According to reports, Shashikala fell from the footbridge while on her way to her field. When she did not return home, her family members began searching for her. Tragically, they discovered her body stuck to a tree approximately one kilometer downstream from the footbridge.
Shashikala leaves behind two sons, and her untimely death has left the community in shock and mourning. The incident serves as a stark reminder of the dangers posed by heavy rainfall and precarious infrastructure in rural areas.
Local authorities and community members have expressed condolences to the family and emphasized the need for caution during such weather conditions.
