In Hosnagar, Shivamogga district, heavy rainfall has been reported for the past week. On Thursday, a devastating incident occurred when a woman slipped and fell from a footbridge installed to cross a ditch next to her farm, ultimately being washed away.
The victim was Sasikala (43), a farmer and resident of Baise village in Nagar Hobali. According to reports, Sasikala had gone to take care of her paddy field in the morning with the intention of planting rice seedlings but did not return. After some time had passed and she didn’t come back, her family went in search and found her body stuck on a tree near Gadde Kalusetuwe in Dumuka, about 1km from the nearest bank of the farm.
Upon inspection at the scene by authorities, it was confirmed to be Sasikala’s body. A case has been registered at the city police station regarding this tragic incident.
