“Aadujeevitham,” starring Prithviraj Sukumaran, has made waves at the box office on its opening day, setting new benchmarks with impressive numbers. According to industry tracker Sacnilk, the survival drama raked in Rs 7.45 crore across all languages in India on Thursday.
The Malayalam version of the film contributed Rs 6.50 crore to the total, while versions in Kannada, Tamil, Telugu, and Hindi added another Rs 1 crore. With an all-India gross collection of over Rs 9 crore (official numbers pending), “Aadujeevitham” has secured one of the biggest openings for a Malayalam film in India.
In Kerala alone, “Aadujeevitham” achieved significant success, boasting one of the largest opening day collections in the state’s history. Its opening surpassed that of Tovino Thomas’ 2018 film (Rs 1.7 crore) by five times and nearly doubled the opening of “Manjummel Boys,” which debuted at Rs 3.3 crore. “Manjummel Boys” currently holds the title of the highest-grossing Malayalam film of all time, with a worldwide gross of Rs 212 crore.
It remains to be seen if “Aadujeevitham” officially surpasses the opening day figures of Mohanlal’s “Odiyan,” which reportedly stood at around Rs 7.10 crore nett. The worldwide collections for “Aadujeevitham” on day one are estimated to be in the range of Rs 14-15 crore.
With positive word of mouth and glowing reviews, “Aadujeevitham” is poised to continue its success throughout the extended weekend. If the reception remains strong, the Blessy-directed film is expected to become another blockbuster from the Malayalam film industry, which has seen a string of successful releases at the box office this year.
