A Namm Style chat with Vinayak Joshi of Big Boss

Vinayak Joshi, there was a time when this name flashed in mind the picture  of a cute little boy of the films Nammoora Mandara Hoove  and Amritha Varshini. But,  the name Vinayak Joshi  will now bring to mind the slim and handsome young man  of Big Boss,  who is at times is short tempered and at times  emotional.

Vinayak Joshi who made his foray into Sandalwood with the film Nammoora Mandara Hoove, later  won appreciation as a child actor in Simhada  Mari, Laali, Kurigalu Saar Kurigalu and Appu. He later was famous as a Radio Jockey This boy who had dreams in his eyes of seeing himself as a hero in films and realizing  his fathers wish, struggled for opportunities and finally settled  for side roles and TV serials.

In the meantime, it was the Big Boss Reality Show aired by ETV that brought him to limelight and gave a new  twist to his career. As of now he is out of Big Boss and is concentrating on his next film Namm Duniya Namm Style. Joshi who was in Mangalore for promotion of his latest film, spoke candidly in a chat with  News Karnataka.

Tell us something about your Big Boss Experience..

It is a whole new experience at Big Boss. I enjoyed my association with Big Boss for five weeks. Initially I was a bit camera conscious. The activities and incidents that take place  during the 24 hours of a day is shown in just one hour on TV. We all  live like a family in one house.

But finally, we feel sad when we are  thrown out by our own people.

What are the reasons that prompted you to agree to participate in Big Boss ? Is it  money or publicity?

Definitely, for both the reasons.  Firstly, I used to watch the Big Boss show in Hindi. When I watched the show, I always wondered how the experiences would be to be an insider in Big Boss.  Along with it we also get recognized  and earn respect -mainly because it is Sudeep who hosts the show.

It is Big Boss show that gave you enough publicity. It even placed your real character before the people. What do you think? Has Big Boss been a plus point or negative point to your career ?

I have been living with my mother since 25 years. She has failed to understand me fully. This being the case, I got for myself  just five minutes  in each of the  hour long episode of Big Boss on TV. How can people understand my real character in such a short time ? In fact people recognize me better after my participation in Big Boss.Everyone recognizes me and speaks to me with admiration. That is definitely a plus point.

What is the main reason for your exit from Big Boss?

More than any reason, my time had expired. I feel I had opted out at the right time. Compared to Jayalakshmi, Shivakumar and Sanjana, I stayed there for a longer time. It is because of the love and confidence reposed in me by Kannadigas.

What have you learnt from Big Boss?

I have learnt a lot and I have changed a lot. I am a bit  short tempered and used to  air my feelings almost at the face of anyone.

But now, I have learnt to exercise self-restraint. There is a lot of difference between the Vinayak prior to entering Big Boss and the Vinayak you see after the exit from Big Boss. Anyone who knows me from close quarters can  spot the difference.

You made much news as far as fitness is concerned.  It is indeed an adventure of sorts  on your part for reducing your weight to 80 kg from 123 kg. What would have been your reaction if anyone termed you cute when you were overweight?

Definitely I would have been happy just because people still remember the old Vinayak.  But my mind would not agree even if I want to return to my earlier physique. I alone know the hardship I faced to reduce weight.

Generally  famed child artistes end up as side heroes or acting in serials. But you have got an opportunity to be a hero. How  do you feel?

Yes. It is difficult to land in lead roles. People like Preetham have given me an opportunity and I am grateful to him. I have learnt from my past mistakes and will see to it that I do not repeat them. One can succeed with hard works and patience.

Vinayak is a talented actor who has proved his mettle as a child artiste itself. Newskarnataka hopes that his next film will be a super hit and he would emerge as a successful hero in Sandalwood and thus fulfill his fathers vision.
