Bigg Boss Kannada 9 winner Roopesh Shetty’s latest Tulu film ‘Circus’ is an all-out comedy family entertainer. This film uses the loud comedy normally associated with Tulu films very intelligently. The characters in the movie keep saying ‘Don’t overact’ with each other throughout the film but still evokes laughter and entertains. After a series of mediocre films which bombed at the box office, the Tulu film industry is all set to have a big winner with Circus film.
Though this film has a thin storyline the screenplay is excellent. The first half is a comedy riot with a hint of romance. In the second half, there is father-son sentiment for a while which is good but again comedy rules till the climax.
Excellent direction by Roopesh Shetty. He keeps the audience entertained throughout the film. Youth, as well as family audiences, will like this film. As an actor too he has done a wonderful job. Newcomer Rachana Rai looks gorgeous and is a perfect on-screen match for Roopesh Shetty which was missing in his earlier movies. Though Rachana Rai has a limited role in this comedy film, she has acted well and left an impression. Yash Shetty as the villain is terrific in his debut film.
All the character artists acted very well. Arvind Bolar & Bhojaraj Vamanjoor are the pick of the lot. They get screen time which is almost equal to the hero. Naveen D Padil is strictly ok in a more serious role. The music, Choreography and Cinematography is excellent. The title song during end credits by Kannada pop singer Chandan Shetty will be a chartbuster in the coming days.
Overall ‘Circus’ is a well-made Tulu film and a must-watch for fans of comedy films.
