Bengaluru: Following the directives of the Cauvery River Water Management Authority, the state government has once again initiated the release of Cauvery water to Tamil Nadu. This contentious issue has triggered widespread anger within the state, with many farmers taking to the streets in protest. Calls for support have also reached Sandalwood, the Kannada film industry.
Prominent Sandalwood actors have started voicing their opinions on the matter. Actors Darshan and Sudeep have taken to Twitter to express their views. Additionally, actor Shivarajkumar has made a video statement, and several other actors, including Raghavendra Rajkumar, Doddanna, and Sumalatha Ambarish, have offered their vocal support to the cause.
Shivarajkumar emphasized, “Farmers are the backbone of our country, and the Cauvery river is the backbone of our farmers. The farming community is already grappling with the challenges of inadequate rainfall in the state. I earnestly pray that the leaders of both states and the judiciary thoroughly examine all aspects of this issue and seek a peaceful resolution.”
Actor Abhishek Ambarish also shared his perspective on the issue. He posted an old photo of himself supporting farmers’ protests and wrote on Instagram, “It is unjust to deprive Karnataka of Cauvery water, a lifeline for millions of our people. I implore both state governments to end this injustice and swiftly address the grievances of our suffering citizens. I stand with those who revere Cauvery as the mother of Karnataka. Let’s prioritize our farmers first and then address neighboring concerns. Jai Karnataka Mathe!”
