Bengaluru: Kannada Film director, producer, actor and playback singer KSL Swamy is no more. The veteran, who was hospitalized for the last forty-two days, passed away at his house in Horamavu this morning on October 20.
He was suffering from infection in lungs and reportedly had suffered a mild heart attack. He was 78.
He has more than 25 films to his credit. He debuted as an independent film director with the 1966 film, Thoogudeepa.
Swamy began his career as an independent director in 1966 and went on to work with distinguished film directors.
His 1989 film Jamboo Savari won the National Film Award for Best Children’s Film at the 37th National Film Awards. Swamy was awarded the Padma Bhushan Dr. B. Saroja Devi National Award in 2013 for his contribution to cinema.
