Dubai: The Ninth episode of NewsKarnataka.com’s talk show ‘Sunday Celebrity’ was aired on Sunday February 27 at 8.00 pm IST.

The guest for the evening was Music Director and Guitarist Alwyn Dominic Fernandes.

Floyd Kiran was the host for the event.

The programme was live-streamed on Newskarnataka.com’s Facebook and Youtube channels.

Floyd Kiran introduced the guest and welcomed him.

Going back to his musical journey, Alwyn Dominic Fernandes recalled, “My father was crazy about music. At home everyday he made us do music from utensils. It was like a live show for neighbours. My elder brother back then had a guitar and it was him who taught me.” He reminisced the phases in his music life from Indian to that of Western.

He also rewinded to his times when he was exposed to international bands and also shared his joy on getting to work with legendary Kannada musicians and actors like Dr. Rajkumar, Puneeth Rajkumar and Gurukiran.

In the Celebrity favourite session he said that he has nick names given regionally. In Mangaluru he is well known as Babu where as Bengalureans call him Oly and also as Babs.

Apart from music, Cooking and Sleeping is my favourite hobby, he said. Reading Kannada magazines and novels was the hobby during school time, he recalled.

Claiming all the music directors whom he worked with as favourites, he rates Ilayaraja sir as one among the bests and likened him to ‘Gandharva’.

Having a child was the most beautiful moment of my life, he expressed. Speaking on his sad moments he explained, “Losing my dad, mom and friend didn’t make me sad but seeing them suffer was the saddest,” he expressed.

Speaking on his regrets in life he said, while taking my career moves I regret denying when presented with an opportunity to work with A. R. Rahman’s band. ‘Also Hariharan sir had given an opportunity to be a music director for his band, and as I was busy with other movies at the time I didnt take up the offer.”

A small nap and a blank walk will calm me in my anger or my sad times, he said.

When asked about retirement aim, “I wish to be physically and mentally fit till my last breath and would not want to be a burden on any,” he said and prayed for the same.

Alwyn Fernandes showcased his soothing music to the audience and and as a concluding message to the audience he said, “Love and Respect each other. Appreciate each other’s religion and culture and celebrate the differences but don’t fight because of It.”

Floyd Kiran wished good luck to the guest and signed off.
