Dollu Kunita is in great demand in Karnataka. Dollu Kunita is a traditional dance, which is also known as the drum dance of Karnataka. Dollu Kunita is a traditional dance found in all Beereshwara temples in Karnataka. Dollu kunita is based on God Beereshwara as the subject. The drum is depicted as a pastoral instrument. The songs are about the glory of God Beereshwara.

Dollu Kunita performance continues unabated generation after generation with new vigour. Especially in Northern Karnataka, no religious ceremony or programme can take place without this dance in any of the village festivals and events.

In all these festive occasions, Dollu Kunita is the highlight of the activity, Dollu Kunita is performed in groups of 10 to 12 dancers. Both men and women can join the Dollu Kunita team. Traditional huge Dollus which are quite heavy and one needs a lot of physical strength to carry them for longer periods of time. For this reason, the dancers are mostly strong men.

Dollu Kunita is basically a dance with musical accompaniment performed in a circle with drum holders beating their drums in rhythm, along with singing and accompanying music.
