The 27th episode of ‘Amazing people’ series by News Karnataka on the theme ‘Fire Brands’ was held on Saturday August 14 at 6.30 pm IST.
The programme was hosted by CA Valerian Dalmaida, Mentor, Spearhead Media Group with Rajesh Sequeira as the co-host and featured influencers Shekhar Vijayan and Sameera Fernandes of the global talk show TheSfactor.

The company is more important than the journey or the destination
The company and the kind of people we have around is what makes us succeed even though there are other factors like passion, willpower and resistance. That’s what Sfactor is all about. Me and Sameera are looking to be the best versions of ourselves and does not look at anyone as a competition. Everybody around is trying to compete with the world and we don’t have to do that at all. It is tough to get that mind set in your head of being one’s own competition but once we achieved that, we have seen a lot of good days and we are looking forward to the future.
As a brand we are always stretching the boundaries
We have chosen topics which not many people would touch upon like politics, sustainability, environment and leadership. We have brought on the show people whose opinions matter and that’s what the brand is about. We wanted to talk about the present and the future through our talk show.
Both of us want to leave an impact in the way we behave and the way we influence. Our entire intention behind the show is to drive positivity and change and to influence in the right manner and that comes with a very strong mindset. We live in a world which is very negative and hence its very important to just keep forging ahead irrespective of what you see around you and this mindset is what drives us as we move forward.
Focussing on making the world a more inclusive place
We need to be inclusive, cohesive and collaborative. As the world is going through a lot of changes now, its not always about winning but also about being inclusive and making sure everyone wins in the end.
Living the dream through the show
I always go back and sleep with a smile on my face. I am getting an opportunity to do something I like and love. Few years back I was working in a corporate company and now I believe that I am doing something I am meant to do. I have been complemented that I have an impact on people and I try to influence them in a positive manner.

Motivation for The Sfactor talk show
Shekhar is a fantastic partner and he is like my mentor. He is a celebrity is his own right and the beauty of it is that we have different parts which we would like to thread upon. Through collaboration and healthy interaction, we find synergy and that is the secret to the success and we are very thrilled and excited to have a brand like News Karnataka on our journey towards greater heights.
Harmony is the reason behind the success of the show
We are in harmony with our community, all the stake holders, supporters, partners and companies that deal with us. Our philosophy is ‘win win’. We are here to look at a bigger cause in society and this has helped us to work harmoniously and take it to greater heights. Having that go getter attitude ensures that we have a very powerful force behind us.
Various challenges faced by our society
Mental and emotional health is something that needs to be looked into. We might have the best of jobs or we might be the best in the family but that is not enough. Domestic violence is another key area which has to be spoken about and a lot of people at home are suffering from it in silence. Marital rape is also one of the places in which people suffer and these topics are not discussed. These prevailing problems in the society should be highlighted and we should do justice in reassuring the people around.
My aim is to influence public policy
I want to influence change in different laws and regulations across different governments and drive positive societal change. I know that I can still strive to be something better and I am working on that. Winning the Nirbhaya award was a life altering event for me and it inspired me a lot and I felt touched. I want that spirit to continue and change this world for the better.
