Mangaluru: As the Independence Day is celebrated in the cities across the nation, the City of Mangaluru has all geared up for festivities again with Krishnashtami. The Hindus celebrate Krishnashtami, the birthday of the Lord Sri Krishna in a grand way.
Many of the devotees of the Lord Sri Krishna have been waiting to celebrate the Krishnashtami. The City of Mangaluru is well known for the celebration of the Ashtami. Many streets will be conducting the celebration ASTAMI every year with lots of fun and happiness. The streets will be filled with the crowd of the people who are eager to celebrate the Ashtami with dance music and others. Many organisations will be conducting the colour festival again. The main event of the celebration is that of smashing the pot, Mosaru Kudike (Dahi Haandi) by creating the human pyramid. It is the indicator of the mischievous behavior of the Lord Sri Krishna that is when the lord was in his youth used to steal the butter which was made by his mother. This is recreated by smashing the pot which will be placed high above the ground. Also the organisations will be conducting the fancy dress competition of the children as Lord Sri Krishna.
In this way, the cizty will be covered with the lots of colourful events for 3 to 5 days.
