According to Wikipedia, a tsunami is a series of waves in a water body caused by the displacement of a large volume of water, generally in an ocean or a large lake. When a large body of emotions is displaced by a series of musical performances, it is a Sangeeth Tsunami. This Sangeeth Tsunami that made waves on our screens (of all sizes) and rang in our ears on the 151st birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, October 2, 2020, was created and organized by Melba Events and Arrangements, Kulashekar, Mangaluru.
They created a stage fit for an AR Rehman concert. The musicians were on stage amid bright lights with their instruments and microphones. We were at home glued to the screen, and our ears plugged into our devices. But it was all so real – the Tsunami of a concert! They set the holiday evening alight.
So many watched it live on Newskarnataka.com (7 PM yesterday) and today it has more than 24,000 views on Facebook and 3,000 views on YouTube. Love you guys the team at Melba Events says.
Soulful melodies, rap, 4 languages – Hindi, Kannada, Konkani, Tulu, there something for everyone!
The show emceed by Jude Noronha had talented and famous musicians Rony Crasta, Rishal Crasta, Alwyn Pinto, and Asha Moras with support from singers like Seema D’Souza, Lona Naravi, Vian Barboza, and Reshma Moras.
The background music for the event was performed by Rajesh Rajendra Karkala.
The show began with the chorus followed by a super father-daughter duo performance by Rony Crasta and his daughter Rishal. The audience loved the performance and appreciated this strong bond!
The key to any shows success is the Emcee and Jude anchored it so well, that the audience cheered him on with their comments and applause in the chatbox. It would have been truly a tsunami of applause had it been a physical concert!
There were so many soulful renderings performed with emotion and musical excellence that one must not name one at the cost of another. But let me break that rule. For me, ‘Aye Zindagi Gale Laga le’ performed beautifully by Rishal, took the cake, as it’s a song after my own heart.
Then there was What happened to your promise the Mohd. Rafi Block Buster, “Kya Hua Tera vaada… Woh Kasam Woh iraadaa’.
It was fam-jam like no other. They jammed, we fammed at home. What a lovely combination.
And then came the most beautiful gesture by one musician to another; a tribute to the one and only S P Balasubhramanyam who recently passed on to his heavenly abode. “Jotheyali. Jothe Jotheyali iruvenu heege end” was a sweet reminder of the legacy of a legendary performer, SP Balasubhramanyam. And in the end there was another tribute paid to the legend as Rony Crasta performed “Mog Mog Mog..”, the only Konkani song sung by SPB from the album “Nashibaanthlya Chedvan”. The song was composed by musician and anchor Roshan Belman.
Parting is such sweet sorrow, said Shakespeare and this was exactly that!
All good things must come to an end so too did this wonder Musical Extravaganza but with the question in an evergreen song that we all crave an answer to! “Meri sapno ki rani kab aayegi Tu.?”
