When disability is an ability in itself….

Nothing is impossible for these disabled individuals. Disability is just a state of mind according to them. Learn more about these amazing people who never let their disability hold them back. From bagging gold medals to championships, nothing proves to be impossible for them. The world is proud of them. They are significantly excelling in the field of sports, education, art, literature, academics and also heading institutions. They are the inspiration to every individual.

Anjaneya

Anjaneya, a class 8 student hails from a village in Bellary district of Karnataka. Anjaneya was born without hands. He started to write when he was 6 years old at Samarthanam Trust. Today the 15-year-old is a source of inspiration for many Indians. Anjaneya was never disappointed with the hurdles and discriminations he faced. It was then that he self-supportively started using his legs to write, paint and draw. Acknowledging his artistic skills, the organisation actively encourages him to pursue his passion. All his art works are filled with passion and themes. The smallest details in his art testify his dreams of becoming a professional artist. His paintings have the glimpses of perfection and excellence. He is the only son to a couple hailing from a poor background. The family is dependent on Anjaneya’s mother’s daily wages.In the year 2014, he received a National Award for “Excellence in Drawing” from the President of India in New Delhi. He was awarded with Raja Ravi Verma Award in October 2016. Life is beautiful for Anjaneya with the passion that he pursues.

With a “never say die” attitude, Anjaneya says, “I want to be a well-known artist. Drawing is my passion. I will grab my dreams by encountering all the difficulties in the most positive way.”

Rajni Gopal Krishnan

Rajni Gopal Krishnan is India’s first visually impaired woman to become a Chartered Accountant. Rajni lost her right eye during the time of her graduation. She had to go through a lot of disappointments during her job search. Undeterred, she took up the challenge to purse CA. During the initial stages of her CA pursuit, she lost her left vision too but she never gave up. Her vision was her determination. She completed her CA in the year 2003. Technology was always her assessing tool to pursue her studies and career. In the year 2014, she won a national award for being a role model. She taught many of the students in the Institute of CA Academy. She worked with reputed organisations such as Infosys, The Indian Groups of Hotels limited. Currently, she is working with CBM India Trust, Bangalore.She received a Karnataka State Award on the occasion of International Day for Persons with Disabilities in December 2012.
She strongly believes in herself, “Never get disturbed with the internal and external failures. Be clear, focus on your strengths and ultimately success will be with you,” says Rajni.

She never gave up due to hurdles. She took everything that came her way positively. Today she is a model personality.

Suruguru Parameshwaraiah Nagesh

Late S P Nagesh is yet another source of inspiration. He was born partially blind. He was a well-known cricketer and a co-founder of Samarthanam Trust. Nagesh along with G K Mahantesh established Samarthanam Trust for the Disabled in the year 1997 with the main aim of providing visually impaired sportspersons, an opportunity to demonstrate their skills at international levels. Today the trust has prepared many talented players, artistes, champions. The idea of creating a trust has helped many of the disabled people across the country. He played a key role in organising the first ever T20 World Cup for the Blind in India – a cup that was lifted by the Indian contingent against the traditional rival team Pakistan.
