Children’s Day celebrations are held in the country with a lot of fervor on the occasion of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru’s birthday on November 14 every year. It’s a common sight to see contests and competitions being held for children of all age groups during Children’s Day.

NewsKarnataka‘s sibling NewsKannada.com organised ‘Magu Nagu’, an exclusive photo contest for the children aged 0-5 years. The photo contest received a humongous response from the readers. As many as 395 entries from parents were received. There were quite a few requests from readers asking for an increase in the age window and make it to a maximum of 10 years. With the overwhelming response received this year, NewsKannada.com has taken all the requests and suggestions from its readers into consideration to make it a bigger contest next season.

Experienced judges in the field of photography Prabhakar Kulal, Punik Shetty and Vishwanath Kodical have judged the photo contest. Prabhakar Kulal is a 30 year veteran in the field of photography. He has bagged many awards including one from UNICEF for his outstanding photograhy skills. Kulal was the winner of ‘Life on Streets’ photo contest organised by NewsKarnataka recently. Punik Shetty, the owner of Punik Studio, is an ace photographer from Mangaluru who has to his credit a number of State, National and International awards. Vishwanath Kodical is a famed photographer in the Tulu film world. He has worked for numerous Tulu films including the recent hit Barsa.

All photographs went through thorough scrutiny and the winners were chosen. Every entry received from the parents was posted on the Facebook page of NewsKannada.com.

The winner will receive Rs 7777 and a trophy and the first runner-up will get Rs 5555 with a trophy. The photo receiving the maximum likes on Facebook will receive Rs 3333 and the first runner-up will receive Rs 2222. Other than the winners, NewsKannada will also award five consolation prizes.

NewsKannada.com thanks and congratulates all the participants, winners and parents. The grand finale of the event will be held on Sunday, November 20 in Mangaluru.
