Delhi: India observes Armed Forces Flag Day on December 7 every year since 1949 to raise donations for the welfare of the Armed Forces Staff. The day honours Indian warriors, sailors, and pilots and also those who sacrificed their lives protecting the nation.

The money donated on Armed Forces Flag Day is used not only for the welfare of active service people and veterans but also for the rehabilitation of battle casualties.

Small flags are also given out on this day in exchange for donations.

The Indian Army, Indian Air Force, and Indian Navy all organise various programmes, fairs, dramas, and other forms of entertainment on Flag Day to highlight to the public the efforts of their personnel to maintain national security.
