WhatsApp was once a simple online messaging application, but it has now expanded into a diverse internet platform. Meta has added a bunch of new features this year.
On December 7, WhatsApp made avatars available to all users worldwide. A user’s graphic representation of themselves is essentially their avatar. The personalised avatar can be used as a profile picture or as different stickers showing various emotions and actions. Facebook, Messenger, and Instagram already support avatars. The fourth Meta platform that enables users to show themselves in their own manner has officially launched on WhatsApp. Using a variety of different hairstyles, facial characteristics, and attire options, users can make their own unique avatars on WhatsApp.
On November 29, WhatsApp began introducing the Message Yourself option. Users can text themselves using this feature. According to WhatsApp, users may now send themselves messages that function as reminders, to-dos, or even moments. By clicking the chat icon, users can message themselves. They will then choose their own contact card from the list. Similar to how messages are sent to other contacts, messages can be sent to yourself.
Want to interact with several groups, but you don’t want to send or forward a message to each one? WhatsApp has a fix for your problem. Users are now able to create communities that contain multiple groups and can even add new groups to an existing community.
Three additional WhatsApp features were also released alongside Communities. These include the ability to create polls in chat and a significant improvement to video calling, which would now support up to 32 people at once. Currently, groups can have up to 1,024 users.
To make WhatsApp a secure messaging service, Meta has put in place a lot of security features. The option to hide their online status on WhatsApp allow individuals to maintain a presence while controlling who can view their present condition. Want to leave quietly after being joined to a new group? WhatsApp updated an option so that only the group admin would be told when someone left a group in one of the updates it released in 2022. A great additional method of communication on WhatsApp is voice messaging. A voice message can also be played back by WhatsApp at speeds of 1, 1.5, and 2. Up to 2GB of files can now be shared on WhatsApp. In order to improve user experience, WhatsApp plans to bring out more features and updates.
