Mental well-being does not have a single definition. Your overall state of mind is usually referred to as your “mental health.” It involves how you feel about yourself, the level of quality of your social life and the ability for managing emotions and problem-solving. We may use it for talking about how things are going, how well we’re dealing with daily life, or what seems achievable right now. Being mentally healthy doesn’t mean that you are always happy or unaffected by your experiences. Starting with your well-being goals is not always simple. You might find it good to only try what feels comfortable; give yourself time to see what works for you.

Take a break if helpful. If a difficult scenario has you feeling drained, consider taking a break. Even for just a short amount of time, a shift of scenery can help you unplug and decrease feelings of discomfort.

Do something you value. Try making a regular time to take part in an activity you like.

Try mindfulness. Mindfulness is a way of being in the now by adopting methods like yoga, breathing exercises, and meditation. It has been found to help individuals in growing in awareness of their emotions and thoughts. It also means that it makes it simple to control feelings.

Give yourself some tech-free time if you feel that spending a lot of time on your phone or computer is making you feel more distracted and unhappy. This could be for as little as an hour or two. If you have difficulties doing this, try leaving your phone in another space.

Finding a purpose and meaning in your life is important for sustaining good mental health. This will look different for each person.
