Every citizen has the fundamental right to vote, which allows them to select their future leader. Voting is a process that does more than just choose a leader; it also teaches us the value of being a citizen. Every person who has reached the age of 18 is qualified to vote and make a contribution to the democratic process.

Many programmes are run to help individuals understand and appreciate the value of voting, but many people still choose not to cast their ballot because they think that one vote won’t make a difference. Yet, it does contribute to laying the political groundwork; in fact, every vote matters! There is a reason why everyone should have access to and use their right to vote, regardless of their sex, class, occupation, etc.

What are the advantages of voting, a perspective that many individuals seem to have adopted? A fundamental function of a country’s political system is voting. It enables the people to pick who will represent them in government. Every citizen has a means of expression thanks to it. Voting is both a responsibility and a right.

Even though we are aware that votes can be manipulated, the Election Commission has a way to stop this from happening. In this general election, VVPAT (voter-verified paper audit trial) is being used.

If we vote, then we have the right to voice our disapproval of the government or speak out against what we see to be unfair or unjust; yet, if we don’t vote, then we also forfeit that privilege. As a result, we should stop viewing election day as a holiday and start viewing it as the one day we sacrifice for our nation.
