Despite the many highs and lows in his remarkable career, MS Dhoni must have found it difficult to accept the Chennai Super Kings’ (CSK) May 18 IPL 2024 loss to Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB). Dhoni is a legendary wicketkeeper-batter.
Since this was predicted to be Dhoni’s last season playing professionally, he would have preferred to go out on a high note. Despite having a knee problem, the 42-year-old managed to play in all 14 of Chennai’s games this season. Following CSK’s 27-run defeat by RCB on Saturday, it appeared as though the Men in Yellow’s Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 campaign was coming to an end.
In a video uploaded by a fan present at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium, a downhearted Dhoni was seen leaving the field, skipping the customary handshakes with the opposition players after the pulsating clash. He did greet the RCB support staff on his way out.
Dhoni should learn how to handle loss with grace from Kohli. Handshake is one of the great things about our game. If it was Kohli, many would have called him egoistic.

Earlier, Ruturaj Gaikwad won the toss and invited RCB to bat first. Faf du Plessis led from the front with the bat and scored a 39-ball 54. His fellow opening partner, Virat Kohli, smashed a 29-ball 47 when the pitch wasn’t looking easy to bat on. The likes of Rajat Patidar, Cameron Green, Dinesh Karthik, and Glenn Maxwell played impactful knocks to take the hosts to 218/5 in their 20 overs.
