An Australian man was arrested on Monday for attempting to disrupt the men’s 100m final at the Paris Olympics. The 24-year-old, sporting a T-shirt with “Free Palestine” and “Free Ukraine,” was stopped by security at the Stade de France before the race.
The interruption led to a brief delay, with athletes waiting for around a minute and a half before the race commenced. Chief Games organizer Tony Estanguet praised the quick response of the security team, stating they were well-prepared and professional.
Despite the disruption, the final proceeded with US sprinter Noah Lyles claiming gold in a historic race. Lyles, who did not witness the incident, expressed that the delay was minimal compared to the excitement of the event.
