Dambulla: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is set to take a final call on disciplinary action against young cricketer Vaibhav Sooryavanshi following his physical altercation with a Sri Lankan player during a tri-nation A series match held in Dambulla on Monday. The incident, which involved Sri Lanka A’s Vishen Halambage, has drawn attention due to the intensity of the confrontation and the age of the Indian player.
Altercation during high-pressure Super Over
The incident occurred during a tense Super Over after both India A and Sri Lanka A ended their innings tied at 265 runs each. Sri Lanka set a target of 17 runs in the Super Over, putting India under pressure. However, the Indian side managed only nine runs, falling short of the target.
During the heated moments following the match, Sooryavanshi and Halambage were involved in a verbal exchange that escalated quickly. According to reports, Halambage made provocative remarks towards Indian batters, which led to a confrontation.
