Bengaluru: The 13th Annual General Body Meeting of the Cricket Association for the Blind in India (CABI) took place at MySpace Silverstar Hotel in Bengaluru on 8,9 July 2023. The meeting brought together 65 delegates from 24 states to discuss and promote cricket for the blind across India.
During the meeting, state officials presented the activities undertaken by their respective state boards in the year 2022-23. Dr Mahantesh G Kivadasannavar, President of CABI, addressed the delegates and highlighted the achievements of CABI in 2023. He dedicated the success of the 3rd T20 World Cup Cricket for the Blind to the states that hosted the matches and expressed gratitude to the hardworking staff at Samarthanam Trust for the Disabled for their continuous support in promoting cricket for the blind. Dr Mahantesh reiterated Samarthanam Trust’s commitment to supporting CABI in all its activities.
Discussions during the meeting centred around the calendar of events for the year 2023-24. Key topics included the National Coaching Camp for the Indian Men’s and Women’s Cricket Teams for the Blind, participation in the World Games in Birmingham in August, and the National T20 Tournaments for Men and Women.
Furthermore, the delegates elected the new office bearers for CABI for the term 2023-27. Dr Mahantesh G Kivadasannavar was unanimously elected as the Lifetime Chairperson of the Cricket Association for the Blind in India. Through a secret ballot, Buse Gowda was elected as the new President and Shailender Yadav as the new General Secretary. The complete list of office bearers can be found below.
