Sydney: Australian cricketer David Warner has been charged with drink-driving following an incident in Sydney, where he was found to have a blood alcohol level above the legal limit during a police check.

The 39-year-old, who is currently playing for Karachi Kings in the Pakistan Super League, was stopped by New South Wales Police during a random breath test in Maroubra.

Incident during roadside check

According to reports, the incident occurred on Malabar Road when Warner allegedly stopped his vehicle shortly before reaching the testing site and parked. This prompted officers from the Traffic and Highway Patrol Command to approach the car.

A roadside breath test returned a positive result, after which Warner was taken to Maroubra Police Station for further testing.

At the station, he reportedly recorded a blood alcohol level of 0.104, which is more than twice the legal limit in Australia.

Police subsequently charged him with a middle-range PCA (prescribed concentration of alcohol) offence and issued a Field Court Attendance Notice.

Warner has been directed to appear before the Downing Centre Local Court in Sydney on May 7, 2026.
