The cricket community mourns the loss. News of his passing prompted former India head coach Anil Kumble to express his condolences. Kumble took to X, stating, “Saddened to hear the passing of my cricketing colleague David Johnson. Heartfelt condolences to his family. Gone too soon ‘Benny’!”

David Johnson, born on October 16, 1971, had a brief yet notable career as a fast bowler for India. He appeared in two Test matches in 1996, debuting against Australia. Despite showing potential with his significant pace, his career was hindered by issues with consistency and fitness, which restricted his international appearances.
