INC’s tweet lauding India’s win makes Twitterati think they need an eye doc

New Delhi: India beat West Indies 2-0 in the two-match test series held in Hyderabad on Sunday, October 14, making fan cheer and shower the team with congratulatory posts on Twitter. Among the thousands of tweets, one stuck out like a sore thumb and the Twitterati were quick to point it out.

“Congratulations to the men-in-blue for the 2-0 Test series win against West Indies,” tweeted the Indian National Congress (INC) on Sunday, to celebrate their win.

The tweet almost immediately attracted trolls, calling them colour blind and suggesting they see an eye doctor.

One Twitter user wrote: “NOW they need an eye doctor as well something that is blatantly white also looks like BLUE TO INC?”. Another user asked for people to observe “2 min silence for color blindness of INC IT cell”.

You see, the party’s social media team made a crucial error. The term “men-in-blue” is used when the Indian cricket team is actually wearing their blue jerseys and this is done only when they play ODI (one day international) matches. The team, like every other country’s team, wears all-white jerseys when playing in test matches.

Now that the party’s social media team has been schooled, maybe they will do a Google search before attempting any more idioms.
