Bengaluru: The SBI 1st Women’s T20 World Cup – Cricket for the Blind 2025, jointly organised by the Samarthanam Trust for the Disabled and the Cricket Association for the Blind in India (CABI), witnessed a thrilling start as Team Nepal and Team India registered commanding victories on Day 2 of the tournament. The championship, the world’s first global event dedicated exclusively to visually impaired women cricketers, is being played across New Delhi, Bengaluru, and Colombo from November 11 to 23, 2025, featuring teams from India, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Australia, USA, and Pakistan.

Team Nepal secures emphatic win over Sri Lanka

In the morning clash, Team Nepal, one of the most experienced sides in women’s blind cricket, recorded a resounding nine-wicket victory against Sri Lanka Women, who made their World Cup debut.

Batting first, Sri Lanka managed 87/8 in 20 overs, with B3 Mihirani Dulanjali top-scoring with 23 runs. Nepal’s bowling unit delivered with precision — Kanti Yogi led the attack, claiming 3 for 21, while Binita Pun took 1 for 11, maintaining disciplined control throughout the innings.

In reply, Nepal chased down the target in just 5.2 overs, powered by an explosive innings from Mankeshi Chaudhary, who smashed an unbeaten 61 off 22 balls, including 11 boundaries. Supported by Susma Tamang, Nepal cruised to victory with nine wickets in hand.
Mankeshi Chaudhary was named Player of the Match for her dominant performance.

India storms to 209-run victory over Australia

In the afternoon encounter, Team India continued their dominant form, defeating Australia by a massive 209-run margin, marking their second consecutive win of the tournament.

Batting first, India posted an imposing 292/4 in 20 overs, led by captain Deepika TC (B3), who hammered 91 off 58 balls, while Phula Saren (B3) contributed a rapid 54 not out off 22 balls. Consistent support from Anekha Devi (B2), Anu Kumari (B1), and Kavya V (B1) helped India reach a total boosted by extras and a 26-run penalty against the opposition.

Australia, chasing 293, struggled throughout and were bowled out for 57 in 19.3 overs, with Chanakan Buakhao remaining unbeaten on 40. India’s tight bowling and sharp fielding, which resulted in seven run-outs, sealed the dominant win.
Deepika TC (B3) was declared Player of the Match for her all-round performance and leadership.
