Nagoya: India added another silver medal to its Asian Games shooting tally on Monday as Rudrankksh Patil, Himanshu Dhillon and Parth Mane finished second in the men’s 10m air rifle team event in Nagoya.
The Indian trio recorded a combined score of 1890.1 points. China claimed gold with a world-record total of 1899.0 points, improving its previous mark by 0.6 points. South Korea took bronze with 1884.2 points.
Rudrankksh and Himanshu reach individual final
India also secured two places in the men’s 10m air rifle individual final.
Rudrankksh produced a strong qualification performance, finishing third with 631.8 points. Himanshu also advanced after scoring 630.0 points, placing seventh.
Parth missed the individual final despite contributing to India’s team silver. He finished 10th in qualification with 628.3 points.
The individual final will give Rudrankksh and Himanshu another opportunity to add to India’s medal tally in shooting.
Shooting continues to deliver medals
The men’s team silver came after India also finished second in the women’s 10m air rifle team event.
Elavenil Valarivan, Sonam Maskar and Vidarsa Vinod combined to win silver for India, while Elavenil later added another medal in the individual competition.
India’s shooters had produced a record 22-medal haul — seven gold, nine silver and six bronze — at the 2022 Hangzhou Asian Games.
With the 2026 competition now underway, the shooting contingent has once again made an early contribution to India’s medal campaign.
For Rudrankksh and Himanshu, attention now turns to the individual final, where both will aim to convert their strong qualification performances into another podium finish.
