KL Rahul to Be Rested for England Series Ahead of Champions Trophy Selection

KL Rahul, the Indian middle-order batter and wicketkeeper, will be given a break from the upcoming eight-match white-ball series against England. The series, consisting of five T20Is and three ODIs, is set to begin on January 22 in Kolkata. However, Rahul has received assurances from the national selectors that he will be included in the squad for the upcoming Champions Trophy in February.

A source close to the developments confirmed that Rahul has been guaranteed a place in the Champions Trophy, which is why he will not be part of the England series. While he has not featured in India’s recent T20 squads, Rahul remains a key player in the ODI format, where he has consistently performed well as a ‘keeper-batter in the middle order.

Following his participation in all five Tests during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy series in Australia, Rahul has opted to skip the Karnataka squad’s participation in the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy knockouts, which started in Vadodara on Thursday.
