Kohli Becomes Fastest Indian to Smash 13,000 T20 Runs

Virat Kohli etched his name in cricketing history yet again, becoming the quickest Indian to cross the 13,000-run mark in T20 cricket. The milestone came during the IPL 2025 face-off between Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Mumbai Indians at Mumbai’s iconic Wankhede Stadium on Monday.

Kohli also became the first Indian ever to achieve this monumental feat in the shortest format of the game. He reached the milestone in his 386th innings, second only to Chris Gayle, who accomplished it in 381 innings. During the match, Kohli thrilled fans with a spectacular six off Jasprit Bumrah and went on to notch a rapid half-century, taking just 29 balls.

Jasprit Bumrah, making a return after recovering from a back injury, took the field for MI, while Rohit Sharma also made a comeback after missing the previous match due to a knee issue.

MI captain Hardik Pandya chose to bowl first, citing favorable pitch conditions and the expected impact of dew later in the evening. Meanwhile, RCB skipper Rajat Patidar admitted he would’ve preferred to chase but believed the surface would remain good for batting regardless.
