The South India Masters Athletics Association is preparing to host the South Asia Masters Athletics Championship in Mangaluru from January 10 to 12, 2025. The event, expected to attract nearly 2,000 athletes from various parts of Asia, will take place at Mangala Stadium.
Udaya Kumar Shetty, the association’s general secretary, announced on Tuesday that they anticipate the participation of athletes from India and other countries. MLC Ivan D’Souza will oversee the preparations and ensure the smooth conduct of the event as the honorary president of the association.
“All arrangements will be made to provide free food and accommodation for participants from other states,” Shetty stated. Association president Surendra Shetty, along with vice-presidents Premanath Shetty and Gouri Shankar, were also present during the announcement.
The championship aims to bring together seasoned athletes from the region, fostering sportsmanship and camaraderie among participants. Organizers are working diligently to ensure a successful and well-organized event that will highlight Mangaluru as a key location for international sports events.
