BENGALURU: NavSahyog Foundation, a Bengaluru-based nonprofit focused on enhancing life skills and creativity among rural children, recently organized a kho-kho and kabaddi tournament at the Mahatma Gandhi Indoor Stadium in Tumakuru. The event saw participation from nearly 400 students representing 80 villages in the Tumakuru district. The tournament was sponsored by Simply Sport Foundation, Radio Siddhartha, Vidya Vahini, Praja Pragathi, and Nandini.
NavSahyog Foundation’s core mission involves fostering life skills through sports, storytelling, creative activities, and experiential learning. The organization also runs several livelihood initiatives beyond its educational programmes. These include ‘Dhan Kaushal,’ a financial literacy programme aimed at teenagers; ‘Yuva Samriddhi,’ which collaborates with rural youth to promote self-employment opportunities; and ‘Vanya Samriddhi,’ which focuses on transforming barren farmland into productive food forests.
The tournament not only provided a platform for rural students to showcase their athletic talents but also reinforced the foundation’s commitment to holistic development. By engaging children in sports and other creative activities, NavSahyog aims to build confidence, teamwork, and leadership skills among rural youth.
