Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Mohsin Naqvi has reiterated that Pakistan will not be travelling to India for the Women’s ODI World Cup later this year. The team will play their matches at a neutral venue, as per the hybrid model agreed upon by the BCCI and PCB earlier this year. Naqvi emphasized that the venue decision would be made by the International Cricket Council (ICC) and BCCI, following the precedent set by the 2023 Champions Trophy, where India played their matches in Dubai instead of Pakistan.

Under the hybrid model, India and Pakistan are to play their matches at neutral venues if one country hosts an ICC event, a policy in place until 2027. The Women’s World Cup, hosted by India from September 29 to October 26, will feature Australia as the defending champions.

Pakistan’s women’s team has qualified for the World Cup after a dominant run in the Women’s ODI World Cup Qualifiers, where they won all five of their matches against Ireland, Scotland, West Indies, Thailand, and Bangladesh. The PCB expressed satisfaction with the team’s progress and announced plans to reward the players for their outstanding performance.

Naqvi praised the team’s ability to play well on home soil, noting, “The team showed how to take home advantage and play like a collective unit. I am happy that women’s cricket is doing well now.”
